Background
Concern for Women and Children Development Foundation (COWACDI) is a woman- led organization born out of
passion for the wellbeing of Women and Children in Nigeria. It has a special interest in mitigating the suffering of the
vulnerable persons (mostly Women & Children) in times of crisis. Currently the organization has focused its attention
on the Northeast of Nigeria with special emphasis in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states (the BAY states) due to the
decade old crises. COWACDI intervenes through community-based approach in addressing Gender-Based Violence
prevention and response programmes, child protection, peace-building programmes and empowerment of youth and
women. Since its establishment in 2005, humanitarian and developmental interventions have been implementing in
Protection, Peace Building, Housing Land & Property (HLP), Non-food Items (NFI), Livelihood. These interventions
have directly targeted over 8000 vulnerable children, women, girls and boys as well as people with disabilities. Determined to expand her interventions to reach more vulnerable groups in the conflict area, COWACDI will be
implementing small holders Agricultural market support initiative project in partnership Christian Aid. COWACDI
operates with full respect for humanitarian law and works with concrete policies and principles of international
standard such as humanity, Do no harm, impartiality, neutrality and independence and accountability to affected
population and Zero Tolerance to Fraud and related activities. We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Summary:
The Project Officer will be responsible for supporting the implementation of activities aimed at promoting cross-border
peacebuilding and social cohesion through CSO-led interventions. The role will involve coordinating training sessions, engaging with stakeholders, ensuring proper monitoring and reporting, and facilitating CSO-led peacebuilding initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Implementation & Coordination
    ï‚· Support the execution of project activities in line with the work plan and donor requirements.ï‚· Coordinate and facilitate capacity-building workshops for CSOs on peacebuilding strategies. ï‚· Work with local partners and community-based organizations to implement cross-border peacebuilding initiatives. ï‚· Ensure effective implementation of training sessions, mentorship programs, and knowledge-sharing activities.
    ï‚· Provide technical support to CSOs in developing and implementing peacebuilding action plans
  2. Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
    ï‚· Engage with CSOs, traditional and religious leaders, community-based organizations, government agencies, and
    security actors to promote peacebuilding efforts. ï‚· Represent COWACDI in local and regional peacebuilding networks, coordination meetings, and relevant forums. ï‚· Support advocacy efforts and collaboration with government and humanitarian actors on peace and conflict
    resolution.

3. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEAL) ï‚· Track and document project progress, including the number of CSOs trained and engaged in peacebuilding
initiatives. ï‚· Collect qualitative and quantitative data on training effectiveness and peacebuilding outcomes. ï‚· Support learning and adaptation by identifying challenges and recommending solutions. ï‚· Contribute to project reporting by preparing activity reports, success stories, and lessons learned.

4. Capacity Strengthening & Training
ï‚· Develop and adapt training materials tailored to the local conflict context and cross-border dynamics. ï‚· Facilitate participatory training sessions using adult learning methodologies. ï‚· Provide mentorship and follow-up support to trained CSOs to ensure the sustainability of peacebuilding efforts.

5. Administrative & Financial Responsibilities
ï‚· Ensure proper documentation of training sessions, attendance records, and reports. ï‚· Work with the finance and administration team to track project expenses and ensure compliance with financial
regulations.  Contribute to procurement planning and ensure timely logistical arrangements for project activities.  Ensure compliance with donor guidelines and organizational policies. Qualifications & Experience:  Bachelor’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, International Relations, Development Studies, or a related field.  Minimum of 3 years of experience in project implementation, preferably in peacebuilding, civil society
strengthening, or community engagement. ï‚· Experience in training facilitation and capacity-building initiatives. ï‚· Strong knowledge of peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and cross-border collaboration. ï‚· Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and coordination skills. ï‚· Ability to work independently and in a multicultural team environment. ï‚· Proficiency in report writing and Microsoft Office tools. Preferred Skills & Competencies: ï‚· Experience working on peace-building projects funded by international donors (e.g., UN, FCDO, EU etc.) ï‚· Knowledge of gender-sensitive peacebuilding approaches and conflict transformation methodologies. ï‚· Familiarity with digital tools for monitoring and evaluation. Language required:
Fluency in oral and written English is required. Hausa and Native Language of the area would be an added advantage.
