Job Title: School Accountant
Location: Ile-Epo-Ejigbo, Ikotun, Egbe axis – Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Reports to: School Administrator (The School Consultant and Principal)
Job Summary
- The candidate for the position of School Accountant must be highly organized and detail-oriented, able to manage the school’s financial operations.
- The successful candidate will maintain accurate financial records, prepare budgets, and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Record-Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
- Reconcile bank statements and manage cash flow.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist in preparing the school’s annual budget and forecasts.
- Monitor and analyze budget variances.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and submit financial reports to the administration and governing body.
- Ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements.
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
- Manage the processing of invoices, payments, and receipts.
- Ensure timely payment of bills and collection of debts.
Audits and Compliance:
- Coordinate with external auditors to ensure smooth audits.
- Ensure compliance with financial laws, regulations, and school policies.
Financial Analysis:
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support informed decision-making.
- Identify areas for cost savings and process improvements.
Staff Supervision:
- Supervise and support accounting staff, providing guidance and training as needed.
Other Duties:
- Perform other financial and administrative tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or HND in Accounting or related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., ICAN, ACCA).
- Minimum 5-7 years of accounting experience, preferably in a school or educational setting.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, laws, and regulations.
- Proficiency in financial software and systems (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks).
- Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with budgeting and forecasting software.
- Knowledge of school financial management systems.
- Familiarity with local and national educational financial regulations.
- Working Conditions:
- Office environment with occasional meetings and interactions with staff, students, and parents.
- May require occasional evening or weekend work.
Salary
N200,000 – N250,000 Gross
