JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking dynamics and highly motivated protection officer (service provider) to support and strengthen our commitment to protection activities under IOM and UNDP-funded projects. The successful candidate will assist in case management, capacity building, and training initiatives for staff while contribution to a safe and supportive environment for our beneficiaries.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION: Assist in the oversight and coordination of protection activities, ensuring effective case management for child protection concerns.

CAPACITY BUILDING: Develop and deliver training sessions for the staff on protection strategies, case handling, and reporting procedure.

DOCUMENTATION: Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with protection guideline and donor requirements.

STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT: Collaborate with local authorities, community leaders, UN agencies, and partners to enhance protection referral pathways.

CONDUCT RISK ASSESSMENT: Conducts risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to ensure the safety and security of staffs, beneficiaries and assets.

MONITORING AND REPORTING: Track and report protection trends, identifying area for program improvement.

RISK MITIGATION AND SAFEGUARDING: Ensure that all program activities adhere to protection standards and principles, and that program staff are trained on safeguarding and reporting mechanisms for abuse and exploitation.

Identify and mitigate protection risks within the flood-affected communities, peace building program including those related to shelter, conflict area, food distribution, and access to WASH services.

Develop safeguarding protocols and ensure that all staff and partners are aware of and comply with them.

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Law, Psychology, Human Rights, or a related field. A Master’s degree is an advantage.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in protection programming, including GBV prevention, child protection, and psychosocial support.

Experience working in emergency settings, particularly with displaced populations.

Knowledge of international protection standards, including SPHERE, GBV guidelines, and Child Protection Minimum Standards.

Demonstrated experience in community engagement and capacity building on protection issues.

Familiarity with case management processes and referral mechanisms in humanitarian settings.
