BUA Cement Plc is the result of a merger between CCNN Plc and Obu Cement Company Plc (formerly Obu Cement Company Limited). Cement Company of Northern Nigeria (CCNN) was incorporated in 1962 and commenced operations in 1967, with an installed capacity of 100,000 mtpa at Kalambaina, Sokoto State.

Job Summary
- The Head, Subsurface will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of subsurface operations, including geology, geophysics, reservoir engineering, and petrophysics.
- He will lead the subsurface team and contribute to the strategic direction of our exploration and production activities.
Duties / Responsibilities / Accountabilities
Specifically, the candidate’s duties will include:
- Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team of subsurface professionals, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive subsurface strategy aligned with the company’s overall business objectives.
- Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of exploration and appraisal programs, including well planning, drilling, and data acquisition.
- Lead the interpretation and integration of geological, geophysical, and petrophysical data to generate high-quality subsurface models.
- Drive reservoir characterization and simulation efforts to optimize field development and production strategies.
- Collaborate with other technical teams, such as drilling, production, and reservoir engineering, to ensure seamless integration and efficient operations.
- Identify and evaluate new exploration opportunities, including frontier and mature basins.
- Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation and improve subsurface performance.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and safety procedures.
Requirements
- Advanced Degree in Geology, Geophysics, or Petroleum Engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, with a strong focus on subsurface activities.
- Proven track record of leading successful exploration and production projects.
- Deep understanding of subsurface concepts, techniques, and software tools.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment.
