We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Compliance and Legal Officer
Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Responsibilities
- Monitor and ensure adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes and their implications for the business.
- Conduct regular compliance audits and assessments to identify potential risks.
- Develop and implement compliance policies, procedures, and controls.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate compliance risks.
- Develop and implement risk management strategies and controls.
- Monitor and report on key compliance metrics.
- Investigate compliance breaches and allegations of misconduct.
- Report findings to the Head of Legal as required.
- Develop and facilitate compliance training programs for employees at all levels.
- Promote a strong compliance culture within the organization.
- Collaborate with various departments to ensure compliance integration into business processes.
- Liaise with external regulatory bodies and legal counsel.
- Prepare regular compliance reports to the Head of Legal.
- Provide timely and accurate information on compliance issues.
Requirements
- Minimum of a first degree in Law
- 2 – 4 years of previous experience in a similar role.
- Deep knowledge of relevant regulations, standards and guidelines within the specific industry.
- Knowledge of the transportation and haulage industries would be an added advantage.
- Expert knowledge and use of Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
