Job Overview

  • We seek a qualified and experienced Safety Officer to join our Power & Gas Department. This role will ensure the safety of operations, personnel, and the workplace by implementing effective safety systems and adhering to local and international safety regulations.
  • The successful candidate will work closely with various departments to maintain a high standard of safety, risk management, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor safety programs and procedures to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify hazards, recommend corrective actions, and ensure the implementation of safety measures.
  • Advise and train staff on safety procedures, ensuring awareness of relevant safety policies and regulations.
  • Monitor and ensure adherence to both local and international safety standards and legal requirements.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Conduct risk assessments and safety reviews of equipment, machinery, and operational processes.
  • Prepare and maintain safety reports, records, and documentation.
  • Provide advice and support to management on safety concerns and improvement initiatives.
  • Liaise with external regulatory bodies and ensure timely reporting and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Promote a safety-first culture and foster safety awareness across all levels of the organization.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Safety Officer in the power or gas industry.
  • A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Physical Sciences, or a related field.

Required Skills:

  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of safety management systems.
  • Solid working knowledge of relevant current legislation and best practices (both local and international).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey safety protocols effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to work independently, with a self-motivated and proactive approach to safety management.
  • Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships across departments.
  • Exceptional multi-tasking abilities and a capability to handle complex tasks simultaneously.
  • Good analytical and critical thinking skills, with a solutions-oriented approach to safety challenges.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
