Enrolled Midwife At Sign of Hope


Sign of Hope (SoH) is an International, Interdenominational Humanitarian Relief and Development Cooperation Organization with a background in Christian faith as a shared set of values and basic motivating factors. SoH is guided by the core values of sympathy, charity and solidarity.

Having registered with the NGO board in Uganda, SoH is currently implementing a Health and Nutrition Program in Kosike village, Amudat District in collaboration with the Diocese of Moroto with the aim of bringing health activities closer to the people so as to improve service delivery in the Karamoja Region.

JOB PURPOSE

To facilitate deliveries and provide nursing care to mothers and their babies.

  • KEY FUNCTIONS
  • Receiving patients, register admissions, deliveries, discharges and deaths;
  • Carrying out antenatal care and identifying high risk cases for referral;
  • Providing care during labour with emphasis on keeping proper records, use of drugs and prevention of complications to mother and baby.
  • Providing care during puerperium with emphasis on prevention of infection;
  • Sensitizing mothers about benefits of breast feeding and recommended diet;
  • Participating in bedside nursing procedures as a member of the caring team;
  • Participating in Doctors/Clinical officers ward rounds;
  • Observing and compiling daily ward reports for the attention of the relevant authorities.
  • Maintain a clean and healthy environment for the patients.
  • Carrying out routine immunization.
  • Any other duty in line with your profession.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

Must be trained as a certified Midwife from a recognized Institution.

Must be registered and licensed with the Nurses and Midwives Council.

Must have a working experience of 2 years.

Knowledge of Pokot Language will be an added advantage.
