Function

  • The Communications Intern will provide substantive support in the communication aspects of the Heifer Naija Unlock program. 
  • S/he will report directly to the Communications Manager, with close links to program staff, and contribute to the implementation of the communication strategy for Nigeria.
  • The role will apply critical thinking and innovation to support communications of the Naija Unlock program, in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. 

Responsibilities

  • Actively embody, uphold, and champion the values of the Heifer.
  • Contribute to the implementation of the communication strategy for Nigeria.
  • Identify existing and emerging news narratives and suggest messaging recommendations.
  • Assist media engagement efforts of partner organizations and key stakeholders.
  • Assist in the organization’s events planning and participate in industry and sector-related functions, events, and conferences and provide reports and feedback on such.
  • Conceptualize and execute of written, video, and audio content to be distributed on key traditional and digital channels.
  • Develop social media content plans that are consistent with the company’s brand identity.
  • Creating consistent, meaningful content on all social media platforms, including writing and editing social media posts, improving customer engagement, and promoting social media campaigns.
  • Use analytical tools such as Google Analytics, Hoot-suite Pro, and Facebook Insights to monitor and evaluate the organization’s social media presence and performance.
  • Preparing monthly reports on media and social media marketing efforts.
  • Suggest recommendations to adjust the social media strategy for optimal results.
  • Staying up to date on best practices and emerging trends in social media.
  • Undertake social listening and data analysis on behalf of the team.
  • Advances effective strategy to grow Heifer Nigeria’s social media following and engagement.
  • meetings and editorial calendar across print and digital channels.
  • Collaborates with program and partnerships team on special campaigns and initiatives.
  • Develops relationships with our technical and operations teams to gather content and programmatic information on an ongoing basis.
  • Performing other duties when needed

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field.
  • Professional experience in management, including planning, media relations and managing content in a corporate, agency or development organization setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and must have a thorough understanding of social media management and strategy.
  • Experience in using design software including Adobe Suite for graphics, picture editing, and video editing.
  • Experience using various analytics software.
