Our 10,000+ team is drawn from diverse backgrounds and professions. With operations across ten African countries, we make farmers more prosperous by providing quality farm supplies on credit, delivered within walking distance of farmers’ homes, and agricultural training to improve harvests. On average, the farmers we serve earn 40 percent more profits on the land they enroll with One Acre Fund. The Nigeria program is headquartered around Minna, Niger state. We’re serving 100,000+ unique farmers across the state via our inputs on credit ‘Core’ program, inputs on cash ‘Retail’ program, and have a free seedlings distribution ‘Agroforestry’ program.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Nigeria Health Safety and Security Coordinator

Location: Abuja (FCT), Nigeria with travels across project locations
Preferred Start Date: As soon as possible

About the Role

  • The Safety & Security Coordinator will be an integral member of the Nigeria team and will report to the Government Relations lead.
  • You will ensure effective security operations, risk mitigation and staff care to support our staff and keep operations up and running.
  • You will develop a safety and security strategy, build capacity for staff on security management, monitor security threats and trends, responding where required, providing the country team with information and technical and operational assistance, and monitoring the compliance to security risk management plan by all staffers.
  • You will be the point person for staffers on safety & security issues.

Responsibilities
Analysis, Reporting and Coordination:

  • Conduct Situational and Security Risk Assessments to determine risk levels for staff, provide operations updates and recommendations.
  • Conduct security trend analysis and provide advice for program planning.
  • Engage with stakeholders in coordination of contingency plans and information.
  • Monitor the security preparedness of country staff and enforce staff compliance with internal security rules and SOPs, ensuring they are communicated to all staff and understood.
  • Ensure regular communication GR lead and country director on key security issues and imperative for business.
  • Provide HSS advice and support to 1AF Nigeria leadership decision-making, providing valuable information for the Country Crisis Management Team.
  • Develop relationships with local security contacts and independently expand networks of information sources.

Strategy Development & Management:

  • Develop and ensure compliance with Country Security Plans, policies, Contingency Plans, SOPs, mitigation measures, and Minimum Operating Security Standards (MOSS).
  • Ensure internal incident tracking system is utilized; create a security incident database and perform incident mapping, assessments and analysis.
  • Update the Risk Analysis Matrix (threat, likelihood, impact, level of vulnerability, level of risk).
  • Be the primary responder to security incidents involving staff during and after office hours, and escalating incident response management to leadership when needed.

Staff Training & Capacity building:

  • Ensure all field staff are fully cognizant of prevailing security threats, duly advises on means of reducing their vulnerability to those threats and develops action plans for security upgrades.
  • Conduct capacity building, coaching and drilling with concerned staff to enhance their capacity in implementation of the preparedness and security measures.

Qualifications
Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:

  • A relevant University Degree or equivalence
  • At least two years of professional experience on similar roles.
  • Experience developing security risks mitigation strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting security risk assessments and reporting.
  • Experience engaging with external partners to gather information.
  • Experience analyzing information and providing recommendations and advisory to organizations’ leadership.
  • Demonstrated project management abilities, in unstructured environments
  • Collaborative approach and ability to work across many different departments effectively
  • Proficiency in MS Suite, particularly spreadsheets (can maintain complex spreadsheets) for contact and risk management experience
  • Language: English and Yoruba fluency required.
