Smile for All Children Initiative (fondly called SMILE’s) is a registered non-profit, non-political and National non-governmental women and youth led organization, established in June 2022 by a group of vibrant young men/women with enormous wealth of experience in humanitarian and developmental works, with the mandate of promoting healthy, education and socio-economic wellbeing of children and their vulnerable caregivers. SMILE’s areas of operation are: Benue, Borno, and Yobe State, currently in a bid to extend to Northwest Nigeria. Currently SMILE’s is involved in issues related to woman empowerment, rural water sanitation and hygiene programs, Child Protection, Education in Emergency, climate mitigation, WASH activities and others.
Smile envisions a “society where every child has a decent place to live”, this we intend to achieve by providing and ensuring adequate protection and better care for children and vulnerable caregivers, through a coherent and sustainable engagements with relevant stakeholders such as Government Agencies, Humanitarian Agencies, individuals etc. to foster care between caregivers and their wards and ensure families maintain bond.
SMILE’s believes that children tend to do better when they are in the care of a protective and caring family. They are able to maximize their potentials and are better groomed into a more responsible citizen when raise in a protective and capable families. This largely translate into creating a responsible and capable future generation.
SMILE’s therefore ensures to work with relevant stakeholders to ensure families maintain bonds and those separated by insurgency are traced and reunified, vulnerable families are empowered to better care and provide for their children, and liaise with relevant agencies to curb negligence and abandonment on the part of parents.

Key Responsibilities:
- Data Collection: M&E Assistants are often responsible for collecting data through various methods such as surveys, interviews, focus groups, and reviewing documents or reports.
- Data Entry and Management: Once data is collected, M&E Assistants may be responsible for entering it into databases or spreadsheets, organizing it, and ensuring its accuracy and completeness.
- Data Analysis: M&E Assistants may assist in analyzing data using statistical software or other analytical tools to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can inform decision-making.
- Report Writing: M&E Assistants often assist in preparing reports based on the data collected and analyzed. These reports may include findings, conclusions, recommendations, and lessons learned.
- Monitoring Activities: M&E Assistants help monitor project activities to ensure they are implemented according to plan and meet quality standards. This may involve conducting site visits, observing activities, and reviewing progress reports.
- Evaluation Support: M&E Assistants may support the evaluation of projects or programs by assisting in the design of evaluation methodologies, collecting data for evaluations, and contributing to evaluation reports.
- Capacity Building: M&E Assistants may provide training and support to staff or partners on data collection methods, monitoring and evaluation tools, and best practices in M&E.
- Documentation and Learning: M&E Assistants help ensure that project documentation is organized and up-to-date, including project plans, reports, and other relevant materials. They also support learning by synthesizing and sharing lessons learned from M&E activities.
- Coordination and Communication: M&E Assistants often work closely with project teams, partners, and stakeholders to coordinate M&E activities, share information, and ensure that M&E findings are used to inform decision-making.
- Quality Assurance: M&E Assistants may assist in ensuring the quality and integrity of M&E data by conducting data quality assessments, identifying data discrepancies or errors, and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Adherence to Standards and Guidelines: M&E Assistants ensure that monitoring and evaluation activities adhere to relevant standards, guidelines, and ethical principles, such as those outlined by funding agencies or professional associations.
- Continuous Improvement: M&E Assistants contribute to the ongoing improvement of M&E systems and processes by providing feedback, suggesting enhancements, and participating in evaluations of M&E activities themselves.

- Successful candidate will be creative, visionary, proactive, highly dynamic, and versatile, organised, a team builder, at home with computing, and interested in working on new challenges. Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree, HND or ND in Statistics, Mathematics, Public Relations, or related field.
- Proven experience working in Statistics roles, preferably in the non-profit sector or a similar environment.
- Excellent written and verbal M&E skills.
- Strong storytelling ability and creative thinking. Proficiency in using Data Collection: M&E Assistants are often responsible for collecting data through various methods such as surveys, interviews, focus groups, and reviewing documents or reports.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Reporting:
The Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant (M&E) will report directly to Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) officer/Supervisor.
