Position: Senior Procurement Officer

Location: Abuja

OBJECTIVES:

This position exists to provide support to the procurement team and to lead some major departmental deliverables. The Senior Procurement Officer to carry out procurement process from start to finish, ensure proper specification management, samples are approved by the appropriate staff before final production. He/she is to manage terms of contract with vendors and ensure deliveries are timely and planned with Inventory/user department with all relevant documentation eg. quality assurance are properly signed.

KEY OBJECTIVES:

  • Management of terms of contract with vendors to ensure strict adherence.
  • Ensuring prompt and regular update of vendor information on database
  • Ensuring vendor appraisal and quality assurance forms are administered promptly.
  • Ensuring samples are approved before final production.
  • Ensuring goods delivered are same as sample approved by user department.
  • Ensure quantity of goods received are same a PO quantity.
  • In the case of service ensure job completion sign off •         Communicate with vendor on the status of bid submitted.
  • Ensure supplier data is updated according to MSI Nigeria Procurement Guideline
  • Work with Cooperate Services and Legal on ongoing contracts.
  • Ensure all documentation is submitted by the vendor for inventory and payment.
  • Prepare payment vouchers, follow-up on approvals and submit to Finance. 
  • Ensuring that an up-to-date price List of Frequently procured items is maintained.

REQUIRED, SKILL, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATION:

To perform this role, it is essential that you have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Procurement, Commerce, or Business

Administration, Accounting, or any other related field

  • 3 – 4 years post-NYSC full-time professional-level experience involving the Procurement and Logistics working on procurement transactions.
  • Experience in carrying out international procurement, shipping and clearing.
  • A professional Qualification in Procurement and Logistics Management will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge and experience in a health/medical or INGO organizations; experience in working in donor funded programmes.
  • Procurement and Supply Chain, knowledge of ERP packages (Tally) will be an advantage, MS Office programs and professional certification in view.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

  • Demonstrated strength and experience providing technical support, writing technical reports, and evidence briefs targeted at management and operations decision makers.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across diverse sets of stakeholders.
  • Team player, passion for work and desire to generate results.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with colleagues at all levels.
  • Critical thinking, research, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to simultaneously coordinate multiple, high priority tasks 
  • Familiarity with the different cultural, social and religious identities in Nigeria, international health, development issues and the international donor community. Strong analytical skills: can easily translate supply chain KPIs into something an organisation understands and responds to. Strong attention to detail
