Africa Youth Growth Foundation (AYGF) is a regional non- Governmental Organisation established in April 2003 and registered in July 2006 with the Corporate Affairs Commission, Abuja, Nigeria. AYGF has an operational base in British Columbia Canada, Texas USA, and Nigeria (Kogi state, Niger State, SokotoState, Katsina State, Edo State and the FCT- Abuja). Over the years the Organisation has implemented several projects that addressed issues around migration, Public Health, Education, Democratic Governance, livelihood, Climate Change and Environment.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Finance Manager

Location: Benin, Edo
Employment Type: Full-time

Position Overview

  • The Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing all financial activities of the organization, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the achievement of organizational goals.
  • This role involves managing budgets, financial reporting, cash flow management, and ensuring transparency and accountability in financial operations.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning and Budgeting:

  • Develop and manage annual budgets in alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Monitor budget performance and provide regular reports to management.
  • Coordinate with program managers to ensure budget alignment with project activities.

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide financial insights to support decision-making processes.

Grant Management and Compliance:

  • Oversee financial aspects of grant applications, reporting, and compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to donor requirements and regulatory guidelines.
  • Coordinate with program teams to track grant expenditures and milestones.

Cash Flow Management:

  • Manage cash flow to ensure availability of funds for operational needs.
  • Monitor receivables and payables, and optimize cash management processes.
  • Implement strategies to mitigate financial risks and maintain liquidity.

Financial Policies and Procedures:

  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure internal controls and compliance.
  • Conduct regular audits to assess adherence to financial policies and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on financial procedures and best practices.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborate with external stakeholders such as auditors, donors, and regulatory authorities.
  • Communicate financial information effectively to stakeholders and address inquiries or concerns.
  • Build and maintain relationships with financial partners and service providers.

Education and Experience / Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have:

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant (Accounting professional qualification is essential) with minimum of 5 years of experience;
  • At least 8 years of experience in a bi-lateral or multi-lateral agency financed project in Nigeria (or an African country);
  • Knowledge and expertise in the field of project preparation, commercial negotiations, financial management, internal controls/systems development, accounting, auditing, and reporting; and
  • Ability to solve problems efficaciously by exercising good judgment will be an asset.
  • Preferrably should reside in Edo state or be willing to relocate.

Skills / Competencies:

  • Strong management, communication, and negotiation skills, and the ability to collect data from multiple partners.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft suite such as excel, word and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of local financial and accounting systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of donor regulations, policies, and procedures and familiarity with grants management.
