We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Driver

Locations: Mubi & Biu – Adamawa
Employment Type: Full-time
Level: Grade A2

Description 

  • Under the direct supervision of the Dispatcher in Mubi, the light vehicle driver transports people and goods in a timely and safe manner, in accordance with ICRC rules and regulations and national traffic laws.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drives light vehicles to transport people and/or materials in strict adherence to internal security rules and national traffic laws.
  • Constantly monitors security conditions on the road and reports to his/her line manager.
  • Ensures that assigned vehicle equipment, general functioning, and body condition and ensures that it is kept fueled and clean inside and out.
  • Checks that trips have been authorized where necessary before proceeding.
  • Report accidents, defects, and/or missing equipment to the Dispatcher immediately.
  • Checks that all vehicle documentation is correct and on board, as well as non-filled Waiver of liability Responsibility and Handover form.
  • Transports people and/or goods, including for the evening and weekend duties as required.
  • Load and unload cargo for delivery as requested to the correct destination, especially during field trips.
  • Adapts the way of driving to the weather and road conditions.
  • Proactively reports any danger or incidents related to security and road safety situation to the Team Leader during field trips, and to his supervisor (Dispatcher) back at the delegation.
  • Ensures that unauthorized passengers or goods are not carried in ICRC vehicles.
  • Informs Dispatcher about service, tools equipment missing, maintenance, and other possible repairs needed in advance and fills in the technical report.
  • Fills in refueling data in a logbook and co-signs fuel book with fuel attendant for quantities received. Ensures that odometer readings and vehicle codes are stated on the invoices.

Education and Experience Required

  • Secondary School / Diploma
  • 2 years of experience as a driver.
  • Good command of written and spoken English
  • Knowledge of the local language(s) Hausa & Fulfulde.
  • Candidate must have a valid driver’s license expiring in at least 1 year.
  • Light / Heavy vehicle driving license held for at least five years.
  • Mastering 4×4 driving, VHF radio system use, and basic mechanical skills
  • Very good knowledge of the geographically assigned environment.
  • Applicants should have a Nigerian nationality or hold a working permit.

  • Willingness to strictly follow ICRC internal security and national traffic rules.
  • Good Planning, Organization & Assessment skills
  • Sensitive to Security Management
