ASWHAN is the central coordinating body of all support groups of women living with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria. Our mandate includes, Coordinating, Advocacy, community intervention, resource mobilization and Research and Documentation. Our program areas are; Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT), Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH), Gender and Human Right, Treatment Care and Support, Retention in care, Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) Counseling

ASWHAN with funding/technical support from UN Women is currently implementing the community Led and institutional strengthening Enhancement Project for women and Girls living with HIV in Nigeria. (CLAISE4WLWH). The Project will adopt a twin track approach to the achievement of it purpose and objectives. The project will have two complimentary pillars, the first pillar will be the community led and women centered response and it will focus on enhancing women voice, their agency and participation in decision making and leadership, it will also focus on reducing stigma, GBV and drug reduction, and economic empowerment opportunities for women and girls.

Specific Project Objectives

The CLAISE4WLWH) Project will seek to achieve the under listed objectives.

  • To increase capacity of members of ASWHAN (from 6 geopolitical zones) to understand and appreciate GEWE mainstreaming, voices, agency and participation in decision making processing and leadership spaces within and outside the HIV response.
  • To improve members of ASWHAN to understand and gain advocacy and policy influencing skills to design advocacy messages and carry out advocacy on stigma, GBV and drug reduction, mental health and economic empowerment and services provisions targeting relevant agencies.
  • To strengthen members of ASWHAN in business to understand competitive business and economic models that can enhance their business and enterprise opportunities and link them to existing business platforms and schemes.
  • Improve institutional and organizational capacity of ASWHAN Board, management, and secretariat to deliver more effectiveness and efficiency outputs and outcomes
  •  Enhance capacity of ASWHAN to engage partners, collaborate and undertake resource mobilization processes and outcomes.

  • 2.      An expert consultant for An Illustrator for a Pictorial Peer-to-Peer Tool Kit

DURATION OF CONSULTANCY: 14 DAYS

TASK: ASWHAN with financial support from UN Women is seeking to hire two consultant (narrative Lead and Illustrative Lead) who will develop a peer-to-peer tool kit with narratives and illustrative contents on agreed areas and focus to enable ASWHAN members interact, learn, and share knowledge and skills.

(A)LEAD/NARRATIVE CONTENT CONSULTANT will be expected to undertake the under listed tasks:

Task1: Take the lead in developing an inception report detailing how the peer-to-peer tool kit will be developed with clear deadline.

Task 2: Provide the overall leadership and coordination for the identification of the topics, themes, mapping and collection of relevant available existing manuals, tool kits, writing of the contents with ASWHAN and UN Women, following up on the development of the illustration clearly mirroring the narratives in the tool kit.

Task 3: Coordinate the compilation of the inputs and incorporation of the feedback from ASWHAN, UN Women and other relevant stakeholders to revise the tool kit and its finalization of the tool kits.

Task 4. Lead the test-run for the peer-to-peer tool kit with selected ASWHAN members to ascertain how- fit-for-purpose and relevance the tool kits are.

Narrative Consultant

EDUCATION:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Art and Social Science, communication, documentation, International Development, Law, Human Rights, Political Science, or another related field.
  • A first-level university degree in combination with five additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in documentation and tool development
  • Knowledge of documentation and knowledge products
  • Expertise in programme design and results-based management.
  • Experience in gender equality and empowerment of women programming
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an independent manner; ability to organize work efficiently and deal with multiple tasks.
  • Previous experience working with government, the UN and Development partners as an asset.
