The Policy Innovation Centre (PIC) is the first national institutionalized behavioral initiative in Africa supporting governments and stakeholders to make behaviorally informed decisions and generate contextually relevant evidence for high impact interventions in critical thematic areas. The PIC is an initiative of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG). The PIC set up was funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF)

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership to the PIC’s Gender and Social Inclusion (GESI) Program.
  • Work closely with program leads to support the effective delivery of GESI-focused activities across project cycles.
  • Lead GESI integration (principles, minimum standards, deliverables) into program activities and functional units including human resources, grants, operations, and others.
  • Work within the team to ensure that a sound gender analysis informs program design and management, as well as identify strategic actions to be undertaken to improve the quality of program implementation.
  • Lead the gender systems strengthening portfolio through research, information management systems, and sector-specific capacity-building programs for public, private, and development practitioners to equip them with skills to engage on gender and inclusion issues using a gender transformative approach.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relations with a wide network of partners, including government, development partners, parliament, media, and NGOs.
  • Assist in the definition of gender-related indicators and targets, as well as in the collection and analysis of qualitative and quantitative sex-disaggregated data; contribute to monitor and evaluating results against the indicators, to inform program and strategic decisions.
  • Deliver high-quality gender-related briefs and progress reports for a range of audiences as required.
  • Coordinate the Gender and Inclusion Summit activities, provide guidance, monitor progress, and ensure tasks connected to the successful delivery of the Pre-summit, Summit, and Post-summit are completed on schedule.
  • Oversee planning and proposal writing efforts for new business development opportunities and liaise with the PIC Business Development Team to produce technically sound and compliant proposals.
  • Foster internal and external relationships with a range of gender stakeholders, partners, advocacy organizations, researchers, donors, and government. Ensure the representation of PIC in gender-focused events as well as partnerships.
  • Design and deliver gender training programs and workshops for staff and stakeholders. Build out the Gender and Development course to expand reach, quality of delivery, faculty, and partnerships to ensure a world-class training program.
  • Act as resource person in capacity building, knowledge sharing events, and other relevant activities
  • Undertake other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications/Job Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Gender, Education, Social Sciences, International Development, Public Health, or related field.
  • Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in gender equity and GBV program management, coordination, policy, advocacy, technical assistance, and transformative approaches.
  • Relevant experience supervising community-based social development and gender mainstreaming programs.
  • Experience in planning, designing, and implementing integrated gender and inclusion programs desirable.
  •  Strong research and analytical skills, experience in conducting gender analysis, and development of GESI protocols.
  • External representation and communication skills, excellent interpersonal communication, facilitation, and partnership-building skills.
  • Ethical and transparent decision-making.
  • High regard toward preserving the confidentiality of work-related information and data.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of local communities and customary rules.
