Starting salary range: Level 4 – $43,350- $49,870 per year commensurate upon experience

Branch Specific Description:

Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Graphic Designer Coordinator will provide graphic design work as needed and support other MNO branches with graphic design work as needed.

Branch Specific Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide graphic design elements and first drafts of designated projects that are consistent with the MNO branding and identity guide
  • Layout and design MNO publications, advertising, web and social media graphics and other media as designated and consistent with the MNO branding and identity guide
  • Co-ordinate, schedule and process requests for communications work submitted by MNO branches and programs. This includes liaising with the MNO staff from each branch who are responsible for submissions, monitoring and responding to submitters to ensure the efficient and timely completion of requests, monitoring relevant e-mails, proofreading and correcting items submitted so they meet MNO standards, obtaining quotes when requested, and maintaining and distributing a submissions schedule
  • Co-ordinate the MNO merchandising distribution system (SWAG store). This includes liaising with promotional item companies, preparing artwork for the SWAG store site, identifying items suitable for inclusion in the SWAG store, and proposing methods to promote SWAG store products and use
  • Prepare Communications Branch Purchase Order requests and related tasks
  • Respond to requests for information through the Contact Us page on the MNO website
  • Catalogue and archive MNO photography, video and graphic design resources including pictures, video clips and finished products
  • Assist with photography, videography and other communications functions when needed
  • Assist with social media advertising and website maintenance as needed

  • Strong desire to act in the service of the Métis Citizens, to advance and uphold rights and culture
  • Completion of post-secondary education in a related field
  • High degree of technology literacy and proficiency in standard office equipment
  • Advanced communications skills
  • Superior organization skills and time/priority-management
  • Highly detail-oriented
  • Ability to work alone/independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Knowledge and experience with graphic design platforms
  • Strong portfolio of web design or print design projects
  • In depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms (ie. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn)


  • Knowledge of Indigenous (preferably Métis) culture, issues, and current activities


  • Bilingualism



  • One year or more experience in a similar/comparable role
  • Experience with the Adobe Creative Cloud, Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign


  • Experience working in communications with a not for profit
  • Experience working with Indigenous organizations

  • 1. A reliable vehicle (or ability to rent), driver’s licence, $1,000,000 liability insurance, and a clean driving record
  • 2. Flexibility to work extended hours as necessary
  • 3. Ability to occasionally travel and stay at remote locations for limited periods of time
